Was on our drive yesterday doing general checks on Grumbler (quad) and had just done a quick run up and down the estate (trying to sort out the noisy chain) when a lady appeared. She is the mother of a disabled lad just down the estate from me (have seen him about on his silver Cobra trike till recently) she said that he had his trike nicked and then set on fire a few weeks ago. That is bad enough but the insurance company are playing silly devils regards what counts as 6 months. Basically if the trike is stolen, written off etc within 6 months they pay out the full amount of the new value. Well according to the insurance company the poor lad is one day over what they class as 6 months (he bought the trike in february). She basically wanted to know what sort of quads were available as he needs an automatic machine due to his disability. His age also limits him to max of 125cc (if I remember rightly he was on L plates on the trike) as I did suggest the small Boom trike which is 500cc and auto before she said about the cc limit.
Don't insurance companies love finding ways of taking your money but not paying out when you need it.

gawd.. don't do that!! when i logged on & spotted a thread in the Stolen bikes thread started by you i thought Growler or his new cousin has been apprehended by some miscreant.
All i will say is, people who steal from the disabled are the scum of the earth & show how weak minded they are because they are picking upon those who can't run after the pikeys & give them a good hiding!

Hi Chris,
Nice of you to post - i am Matthews mum who approached you.
I fought tooth n nail to get the insurance company to do the right thing - guess what?!
Not only did they pay up FULLY, they gave him £400 towards the costs of taxis he had needed whilst they tried to worm out of paying up, and waivered the £500 excess. So he has £2000 to buy a replacement trike - if anyone out there can help. He is on a provisional car licence, has to be trike because of his disability, and he is 20 years old......
Cheers Chris - see you around x

Hi Julie
Have just posted on another part of the forum for Matt regards a possible trike like vehicle. The Piaggio MP3 if he would feel comfortable on that sort of vehicle.
Still keeping an eye out for a possible trike replacement for Matt.
